And Then There Was One

She was born into a large family
Eight or nine siblings and cousins galore
She chose though to leave her boring hometown
Headed up to the big city, determined not to be poor

She was a pretty gal, and stylish too
But had a nasty attitude and was oh so shrewd
She loved her liquor and loved a good time
But when she had too much she could fight like a dude

She had the mouth of a long shore man
And could drink, curse and party like a man
And after a short while with her
You've had about all you could stand

She'd wind up insulting and out drinking
    Whomever she was with
Maybe a fight would ensue with her getting loud
Next thing, she'd be caught in a rift

    Children didn't concern her
The one she had she left back home with a sis
    Family members concerned her little
Birthdays and family events she could easily miss

Whatever the event, she was always an embarrassment
When she showed up dressed to kill
With corn liquor in her purse--out would come the bottle
And she was just as at home as she'd be at a still

At age ninety-five, she's really quite healthy
Surrounded by photos of herself in heels and her fur
She seems to thrive on the bitterness in her life
And angry cause she can't get out to buy liquor

In her mind everyone has betrayed her
No one calls or comes by
She chooses not to remember the wrong she has done
The people she's hurt she insist is a lie

She drags herself through the house
Claiming pain doctors can not find
Moaning and groaning over how people have hurt her
Not realizing it's all in her mind

She still clings to life not wanting to die
    Although she's now all alone
All her drinking buddies have crossed over
And those who've felt her wrath don't even phone

She's hurt everyone who's tried to love her
She manipulated everyone who's come to her door
No sisters, no children, no neighbors, no friends
She alone waits to settle her score.

Dedicated to all who are clueless

    A Simple Life

She led a pretty simple life
Never married, no pets, no children
Her days consisted of just getting to work
Then home, then work, then home again

After many years, her body grew weak
Despite her struggle, she could work no more
When her boss was told that her health was poor
He told her good-bye and opened the door

When it was her time to pass on
    She was ready to go
And I can't help but admire her
For she left with little show

She just went about her business
And when her business was done
She just got weaker and slowly slipped away
Because life was no longer fun

She spoke till she no longer
    Had breath to speak
    And laid down because
    She had grown too weak

    She kept to herself
    I was her only friend
And I hope I was enough for her
When it came to the end

    Attraction

What is that magic that causes one's attraction to another--
A sexual attraction as one would have for a lover?
Wonder why someone is with another who is not a likely match?
Or question why one would ever consider the other as a catch?

Ever question yourself, once the bloom has fallen off the rose
And an end has come to what seems like just a fascination?
What has caused you to want to mate or simply spend time with
Someone who has caused you such mental devastation?

What is the mad attraction—something you can't quite put a
        finger on-A
reason, despite great thought, you can't give an answer to?
All you know is that you've got to have more—can't get enough
You're out of control—obsessed, and don't even know with who

Science will say it can be something as simple as a person's scent
Especially, although egregious, the magic of their sweat
Then there's the tone of one's voice, that lulls you into a certain
        mind set
That voice that may wind up yelling at you, causing you to get
        upset

There is also a spiritual belief that our current relationships
Are from past lives, and our lover may be from days of ole
We unite in this life for closure or simply put, a redo
Maybe lives ended too quickly, violently, leaving behind unsettled
        souls

It may take many lifetimes to reunite—sometimes hundreds of
        years
Returning too soon or too late—near misses only to repeat the
        round--
Like missing your bus stop and then having to go round again
Then finally, hitting it just right with the connection finally
        found

Like finding an old friend, because indeed the new soul is old
Each comfortable with the other only to pick up where they left off
Though they probably can't understand why, because they just met
Yet can't resist the passion that wells up inside and feels so
        sweet and soft

Nor can one understand why someone walks by and the whiff they get
Gets their attention—making them turn around and take notice
Wonder what spell they find themselves under, causing them to
        relate
To someone they may barely know and around whom can't focus

Then what about the voice one hears that makes their innards curl?
The tone mystifies the ears, making them want to hear more
Like hypnosis, the tone lulls them into a false sense of security
And yet they follow along, foolishly anxious to explore

Ah yes, there is yet a fourth reason two souls come together--
For what may seem like no particular reason
Yet, there will be once a third soul has chosen them as it's
        parents
So the two will meet, be drawn to each other, if maybe only for a
        season

So the next time you question why you've become so involved
With someone, under normal circumstances, you might not look at
        twice
Peruse this list till something strikes a familiar chord
Decide, should you travel the road again, allowing oneself to be
        enticed

If you decide not, be aware, the allure will be almost impossible
        to resist
Irresistible to each other, the souls like magnets, are driven into
        a fling
Constantly finding themselves in the same place at the same time
The thought of losing each other again is enough to make them cling

The solution I've found, is to manifest a resolution before time
        runs out
Prepare yourself and future incarnations, resolving no recurrence
Also work on tying up loose ends before the end
Just a theory—no way of knowing if it works—no
        assurance

Trying to get all relationships to end well is indeed a challenge
With crossed fingers and lots of love, even the best of us fail
Souls get comfortable with each other and parting causes sorrow
Hence, they fight to stay together—it takes hard work to
        prevail

So, dear one, try to end all attractions on a sweet note
If possible, end them all, as they began--with lots of love
And on a return trip, if you meet a soul that seems familiar, give
        thought
Tread slowly, as each relationship is intensely full of purpose
        from above
Dedicated to all those who have traveled that road before

    Back Again

Some of us reincarnate just in mind to have fun
Others come back knowing that their work has just begun

Unfinished business usually is the cause for people's return
Then there's the lofty idea that this is the best way they can
        learn

But because the challenges are so great one can go either way
One can keep their eye on the prize and advance without delay

Others though can easily get caught up in the lights and magic
And the results of their incarnation can predictably be tragic

Those are the ones who fall off their intentions and forget the
        plan
Hedonistic decisions distract and regress them back to where they
        began

One has to zig zag through the obstacles in order to stay on the
        path
Focused on the contract one's soul made and then to avoid Evil's
        wrath

So much like what happens to children when they start out on their
        own
With no one to supervise and remind them, they stray being out
        alone

Once the bad gets good to them and they take the wrong fork in the
        road
All bets are off, the contract is broken, the soul slips into an
        altered mode

So one gets weary—changing genders, jobs, families--all the
        travel
What a delightful karmic mystery, almost impossible to unravel

Dedicated to all those old souls

    Belief

The secret to blessings is believing
And the secret to believing is trust
Spirit works best when you believe in it
In fact, belief and trust are a must

Spirit Guides beg to be used
They are here for us –waiting to be called
Once we ask for their help, we must trust
And we will be tested until trust is installed

How exciting once one realizes how belief works
    How simple the practice is
So simple it's taught to children
Yet, once mastered, one feels like a whiz

Children can be expected to believe
Yet, as adults, believing is too simple a concept
Foolish, we'd be called if anyone knew
Yet I never felt foolish at all with the precept

If one asked for something and felt deserving
Then one would trust that it would be given
So simple, so basic, that even I, a doubting Thomas
Can master trusting, especially once it is proven

If you know you are loved and deserving
And that spirit is here on your behalf
Then it's easy to believe your best interest is at heart
As you grab hold with both hands to life's staff

    Dedicated to those who believe

    Can't Take It With You

You can't take it with you
Is what I remind my pals
But my words fall on deaf ears
No one would listen, especially two gals

Everywhere we look, everything we see
    Teaches greed, big money, prosperity
In itself, this is not a bad concept
But at other's expense, where's the austerity

The idea of sharing is abhorrent to so many
And no one can convince them otherwise
Perhaps if not learned when one is young
Once grown, can't be taught to compromise

Why is it that no allowances are made
For the renter who's too sick to pay rent?
Why is it that if someone is broke and hungry
That money for food can't be lent?

One of the gals had the nerve to ask with disdain
If I've yet learned that no good comes from being nice
She was quite serious and was quite disappointed
When the answer she heard did not match her advice

She found it impossible to believe that her belief--
That one should get them before they get you
Would not be working for someone she always thought
Was beneath her, as she considered herself a guru

No one ever disputed her or contradicted her ideas
So her next step was to warn me--
That I will forever regret my decision, and added
That she'd bet I'd be sorry—just wait and see

I tried to assure her that my way was best
And even made her that bet
She shut up quickly and ended our talk
No longer could she listen—I'd become a threat

At times it seems we are surrounded by folks like this--
People that begrudge others their start
Feeling others are not as deserving as they are--
Not worked as hard, not as educated, nor as smart

I was right, and had to tell her, the man I confronted
Had become a very good friend
The gal friend couldn't believe me
And is still anticipating my disappointing end

    Chemtrails

Look up at those strange graffiti lines in the sky
Look up and hope that nothing drops in your eye

What are they doing—what does it all mean?
What are they spraying—us it would seem

Such a distraction that no one bothers to see
Why do we allow it, say nothing, the spray is the key

They're out to get us or am I just paranoid?
How come it just bothers me—those lines in the void?

Stay inside, cover your head, your children your pet
If the lines mean nothing then why do I fret?

What falls on our heads—what seeps thru our brain
What mars our heavens, barely leaving a stain

Why aren't people angered, why don't they complain?
What is in the chem-trails—what do they contain?

Do the sprays cause Alzheimer's, our cancers, our pain?
Do they cause our stress, mental illness, what is to gain?

Are they used to control us, to keep us in line?
Yet, drive us insane at the same time?

Will wearing a hat help shield and protect
What can we do—very little I bet

We're pawns in a game that we know we can't play
Manipulated and toyed with, used merely as prey

    Dedicated to all us prey

    Cry

I CRY for the children who die in the street
I CRY for the mothers who lie at their feet

I CRY for the planet that's changing for the worst
I CRY for Mother Nature who was here first

I CRY for mother earth who's tried hard to provide
I CRY for our Creator who struggles to get man to abide

I CRY for the soldiers who sacrifice for us in good stead
I CRY for our lawmakers who control us with dread

I CRY for the rich who are convinced their money buys all
I CRY for the poor who because of the wealthy are made to feel small

I CRY for the ignorant who will never be blessed with good sense
I CRY for the mean and judgmental who care little for consequence

I CRY at the thought of what this world will become
I CRY for those who take their own lives, who are forced to succumb

I CRY for the generations to follow--for the world they inherit
I CRY for the people that now rule without merit

I CRY for respect and love and honor, all of which seem to be lost
I CRY at last for the goodness of life, which seems lost at all cost

Dedicated to those who are lost

    Dear Madiba

Ever so often we are confronted with a martyr,
Like the Phoenix, who from the ashes did rise
And though the reverence seems grand
They suffered greatly for the cause they despised

Now that he's crossed over to the other side
Everyone has heard and seen his story
Thanks to the articles, videos and books
The whole world can share his glory

Especially of value during this time in our history
When the world seems so cruel and rife with strife
To see the works of someone so willing to sacrifice
For his people and country at the end of his life

Let the people see his example
The power of what love and forgiveness can do
Show the young they needn't fear their oppressors
And that forgiveness and love is the glue
