The present work is an unaltered reprint of the collected works of P. L. Chevyshev published in two volumes in St. Petersburg. It contains all of Chebyshev's post-doctoral mathematical writings. A doctoral thesis, published in german translation as "Theorie der Congruenzen", may be issued as a separate volume. Préface: (.) L'édition comprendra deux volumes. Elle refermera tous les travaux imprimés du vivant de l'auteur, sauf deux thèses publiées à part: une thèse pour le grade de magistre: "Essai d'analyse élementaire de la théorie des problbilités", Moscou, 1845, et und thèse de doctorat: "Théorie des congruences", St.-Pétersbourg, 1849. Pour la distribution des matières nous avon adopté l'order chronologique. Quant à la biographie de Tchebychef, nous comptons la faire paraitre dans le seconde volume (A. Markoff, N. Sonin). Pafnouti Lvovitch Tchebychev (4 mai 1821 (16 mai 1821 dans le calendrier grégorien) à Okatovo, près de Borovsk - 26 novembre 1894 (8 décembre 1894 dans le calendrier grégorien) à Saint-Pétersbourg) est un mathématicien russe. Son nom a tout d'abord été transcrit en français Tchebychef. Il est aussi transcrit Tschebyschef ou Tschebyscheff (formes allemandes), Chebyshov ou Chebyshev (formes anglo-saxonnes). (Wikip.)
