Abortion is a complex, multifaceted issue that must be considered from many perspectives to gain a true understanding. Spiritual issues are very important, but law, ethics, medical science, and old-fashioned common sense are also critical to the full view of the matter.

Loren W. Brown, J.D., and Taylor J. Brown, M.A., offer a systematic biblical and legal analysis of the status of abortion in America in their new book, which dives into everything from medical science to statistics to changing social paradigms. No matter the question, you’ll find the answer inside:

• What is the legal basis for abortion as a “fundamental right”?
• What’s the difference between “potential life” and “real life”?
• Should the unborn child be acknowledged as a “person” with constitutional rights?
• What does the Bible say with respect to abortion? Does God care?
• What is the significance of the biblical command to “be fruitful and multiply”?
• Are their lasting consequences to the abortion choice?

Unlike books that look at only one side of the debate, The Ostrich, the Eagle, and the Unborn Child is an exhaustive analysis of this sensitive issue.

The authors’ desire is not to condemn but to search for and find truth—and share with others the reality that despite rhetoric to the contrary, abortion is the antithesis of love.

Loren W. Brown, J.D., holds a bachelor of science degree from The University of Arizona as well as a law degree from Western State University, College of Law. He has practiced in the legal areas of contracts and estate planning for many years, and he became a full-time instructor of legal studies at the University of Houston-Downtown in 2011. An avid Bible scholar, Loren enjoys speaking at events on legal and moral issues—specifically abortion and its impact on society. Loren has been married for more than four decades and is the father of three adult children.

Taylor J. Brown, Th.M., holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and business with a prelaw emphasis from Westmont College. He has a master’s degree in biblical theology from Fuller Seminary and has completed advanced master’s studies at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.

Loren and Taylor’s individual Bible study on abortion led this father-and-son team to combine their expertise to coauthor The Ostrich, the Eagle, and the Unborn Child.
