Paperback. She has ninety seconds of clear thought left. She's going to spend all of them on arithmetic. Twelve percent. That's what's left of the battery keeping Maren's only companion alive - a fraying AI named Blinker, the last voice in a relay station buried on the slopes of Olympus Mons while a planet-killing dust storm hammers the walls. Somewhere above the red, twenty times the speed of sound, an unmanned lander is falling blind, guided by nothing but a beam of light Maren has to aim by hand. For four years she's hidden the one thing that could ground her for good: a diagnosis that would end her career the moment anyone official found out. Tonight, alone, with the mirrors jammed and the air running thin, that same wiring - the pattern-locked, detail-starved, impossible-to-mask mind she's spent a lifetime disguising - is the only thing standing between a falling ship and a mountain. She gets it down. She doesn't know yet what she's really been racing. Because the storm outside isn't just weather. And the ship she just saved might be the only thing standing between her and what's coming next. OUT OF BAND is a tight, ferocious survival thriller for readers who love their science fiction hard, their heroines smarter than the system built to exclude them, and their countdown clocks merciless. Fans of survival-against-the-odds thrillers and quietly devastating character studies will tear through this in one sitting - and feel the ending land twice. This item is printed on demand.
