The first novel in the Inspector William Fox series.

A fortune worth killing for. A woman worth dying for. And a man running out of time.

RCMP Inspector William Fox doesn’t always play by the rules—like when he’s chasing gangsters through the St. Lawrence in his cigarette boat, The Midnight Fox. But after a near-fatal assassination attempt and a string of boat bombings, he’s pulled from the case and reassigned.

Meanwhile, archaeologist Tracy Jordan—William’s former sweetheart—believes a lost Chinese treasure is hidden in Nova Scotia. She travels to China for proof, only to be kidnapped by the Foo Dog Triad, who want the treasure for themselves.

Her desperate father, a retired CIA operative, begs William to work with the FBI to bring Tracy home.

But you only cheat death once… and this time, William is in way over his head.

Can he find the one who got away before she vanishes forever?
