Outside Inside shows how to adopt Helen Ellery's design principles to turn your home into a stylish oasis that provides respite from the relentless demands of modern living. Hip and contemporary, combining humour with comfort, Helen's signature look is inspired by the land and achieved through the use of texture, colour and witty literal references - bright green carpet 'growing' up the stairs imitating a strip of nearly mown lawn; a yellow 'rape field' rug in the sitting room; 'turf' fabric blinds in the windows. The book is packed with unique and accessible projects and easy ideas for bringing soothing elements of the outdoors inside and making seasonal alterations that allow you to ring the changes without going to the vast expense and upheaval of redecoration.

A former promoter of rock music, Helen Ellery changed direction eight years ago when she decided to train as an interior designer at Chelsea School of Art, having first studied graphic design at Central St Martin's. Since 1998 she has been running her own successful interior design business, The Plot.
