This is the Daily Mirror Vintage Learn To Cook Book from 1948. It is filled with insights into the post-WW2 years, with the rationing restrictions. Brilliant drawings by the great Jack Dunkley; this is the core of the book, many pages of easy to follow recipes using the restricted ingredients available in those times. And the recipes and tips are still useful today. Obviously, this is a perfect book for cook book collectors, but it is also useful for research into those far off times. Fascinating insights into 'normal' family life and cooking. Brilliant ads dotted throughout the book. This is becoming quite RARE. And the fact that it is also well-used means that there are a few bent over corners, and could that possibly be a tiny bit of organic matter here and there???? Spiral bound, with stiff card covers. Utterly beguiling! Beautiful drawing from the great Jack Dunkley.
