By any measure you would accept from somebody else, you are fine.
It does not feel like fine. It feels like being slightly behind, in a race nobody named, against people whose middles you have never seen.
It takes four seconds. You see a photograph, a job title, a sentence at a dinner party. Your whole life gets reweighed, and you carry the new weight around all day without remembering where you picked it up.
You know the standard advice. Stop comparing. Be grateful. Everyone is fighting their own battle. All true, and none of it tells you what to do at ten past nine on a Tuesday.
Because the problem is not your attitude. It is your evidence.
You are comparing everything you know about your own life against three things you can see of theirs.
Inside you will discover:
- The two columns, and the strict rule that makes the left one honest
- The one line at the bottom that ends most comparisons outright
- The four questions for what you cannot see: cost, subsidy, interior, trajectory
- The trigger log, and the three clusters it reveals in a fortnight
- What to do when the comparison turns out to be right, which is the most useful chapter here
- Why gratitude does not work on this, and what does
- The race nobody named, and how to find out who wrote your timetable
- Whether this costs you your ambition, answered properly rather than reassuringly
- A thirty-day sequence that starts with a week of changing nothing
No gratitude journal. No deleting anything. No pretending everybody is secretly miserable, because some people are doing well and this book does not need them not to be.
Book Six of The Control Line Series. Reads perfectly well on its own.
Buy your copy and find out how little you can actually see.
