MURDER. ARMED ROBBERY. SEXUAL OFFENCE.

When a prisoner is up for parole, a decision must be made. How will they behave when released? Will they cope? Will they reoffend? These are some of the questions Rob McKeon, member of the Parole Board, asks himself day to day.

Some people have terrible early life experiences setting them on a destructive path that’s difficult to alter. Some can change, while others never do. It’s vital to assess the dangers and make the right call.

With over a decade on the Parole Board, these are the stories that have shaped a career where risks are high and the repercussions can be devastating. This is an eye-opening look at Britain’s prison system, told from the front lines.

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF THE PAROLE BOARD.

Rob McKeon has been a member of the Parole Board for England & Wales since 2012, with an extensive understanding of the Criminal Justice System. He decides whether prisoners who are serving sentences for some of the most serious offences in the country are safe to be released.  His work was featured on a BBC 2 documentary series Parole and he regularly considers high profile cases, including murder, organised crime and serious sexual offending.  Rob has been a member of the Parole Board's Management Committee since 2016 and has worked on over 5,000 cases.
