Dysfunctional family? Guy knows better than to ask his feisty mother, Dina, about his father. Besides his mom, the only other consistent female in the teenager's life is his childhood friend. Beth used to be an Indian Hills native, but has recently moved to another area, just outside of Denver, Colorado. She and Guy remain friends and they have a mutual buddy. Greg is not an angel, but overall he's a good kid. He likes the excitement of hanging out with Guy, who tends to get into trouble. Greg is currently dating Mary Jo. The teenager wants to break up with his girlfriend. He knows that Mary Jo and Beth, are going to be in the Fourth of July parade together. Greg decides that this is the best opportunity to end the relationship. He's hoping the day's festivities will help her get over him, but it turns out this will be the catalyst for them getting back together. Meanwhile, Guy will continue to live up to his bad reputation, which requires the attention of the town's Sheriff. Sheriff Bates finds Dina at the neighborhood bar and makes her aware of her son being at risk for going to jail. Dina reacts, using her explosive profanity, and wants the Sheriff to get to the heart of the matter. This leads the Sheriff to come up with a plan, to lure Beth into disclosing information. It works, but he learns more than he anticipates and it involves a person he least suspects!
