Charles H.C. Kim is President of The Peace School, a non-profit, educational organization founded in Chicago by his father in 1972. Kim began his lifelong practice of meditation when he was in elementary school. He teaches Peace Breathing Meditation, Peace Yoga and Traditional Tae Kwon Do. He believes these practices have the power to build world peace, one person at a time.
Jack Magnus, Readers’ Favorite: “Each of the 31 stories in this book are designed to help facilitate the realization that you can be a part of world peace in your everyday life.… I’ve found myself Peace Breathing throughout the day and even sometimes when I wake up at night. I love the idea of being part of a movement towards world peace, and the act of peace breathing does actually bring peace and tranquility.”
Deborah Lloyd, Readers’ Favorite: “The suggested way to absorb the wisdom contained in this book is to read one lesson each morning and meditate on it throughout the day.… The meditative technique, called Peace Breathing, is one of the simplest and most profound ways to bring calmness to a hectic lifestyle. It can be done anywhere or anytime, with no one else being any the wiser. However, over time, coworkers, friends and family members may notice the peacefulness emanating from you. One of the best features of this book is that each lesson is easy to understand and relatable to every reader.… The author writes in a smooth, flowing manner, adding to the seeming simplicity of each chapter. Yet, each one is thought-provoking, with layers of meaning within the lessons. Additionally, how one person’s energy affects the entire world is well explained.”
Sherri Fulmer Moorer, Readers’ Favorite: “Talks on practical, everyday issues we face such as building a solid foundation, keeping calm deep within, accepting the unexpected, healthy relationships and connections with others, achieving balance, individuality, embracing energy, and living in harmony with all around you. The content in these talks gives you wise parables, deep insights, and support through meditation in a direct manner that’s easy to read, easy to comprehend, and gives wise insight for living a good life.… The stories and experiences are widely diverse and are clear in meaning and easy to interpret in your own life.”

Informazioni sull’autore
In 1972 Kim and his parents, three sisters and brother moved to Chicago where he finished high school and helped his father set up and run The Peace School. He is a 9th degree black belt. Kim holds a Bachelors of Actuarial Mathematics from Northeastern Illinois University and a Masters of Computer Science from DePaul University. Since 1981 he has worked as an information technology professional for a large Chicago financial institution. He and his wife, Jennifer, live on Chicago’s north side.
After his father’s passing in 1999, Kim became President of The Peace School. He oversees the School’s operations and teaches Peace Breathing Meditation, Peace Yoga and Traditional Tae Kwon Do. He also conducts Peace Breathing Meditation seminars. Kim is a firm believer in consistent practice and applying methods for creating peace in daily life, not just understanding theories or accumulating knowledge. He is an engaging and intuitive speaker using vivid stories, examples from nature, experiences in the workplace and other illustrations of how we can bring peace to ourselves and to the world.
Li-Young Lee, Award-Winning Poet: “There are plenty of books explaining in detail the health benefits of deep breathing, as well as the psychological rewards of meditation. But this book places that method in the context of everyday life, reminding us to practice and enact meditative presence, meditative awareness, in the real and ongoing world.”

Descrizione dello Store
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone.
