Descrizione:

Paperback. The problems challenging Uganda and the continent of Africa are manifold and great. But the worst problem isn't poverty, war, or corruption. Rather, it is the minds of the people, who too often accept self-imposed limitations. The People's Agenda lays out a bold plan for reform founded upon the powerful concept that Uganda is nothing but its people-so it's up to those people to set their minds on changing the direction in which their country is headed. By pausing to reflect upon what exists now and what they desire, the people can set another destiny-a destiny that embraces the principles of sound character, peace, tolerance, imagination, creativity, self-reliance, cooperation, prosperity, the Golden Rule, and love of nation. If Ugandans uphold these principles through the institutions of family, religion, education, and media, society will begin to change-and today's children can look forward to a brighter future. Providing a badly needed analysis of Uganda's priorities and goals, this deeply empowering book discusses the Ugandan people and their nation, offering practical suggestions for improvements in the critical areas of social services, political systems, good governance, peace, security, foreign policy, and the economy. Riassunto:

The problems challenging Uganda and the continent of Africa are manifold and great. But the worst problem isn’t poverty, war, or corruption. Rather, it is the minds of the people, who too often accept self-imposed limitations.

The People’s Agenda lays out a bold plan for reform founded upon the powerful concept that Uganda is nothing but its people—so it’s up to those people to set their minds on changing the direction in which their country is headed.

By pausing to reflect upon what exists now and what they desire, the people can set another destiny—a destiny that embraces the principles of sound character, peace, tolerance, imagination, creativity, self-reliance, cooperation, prosperity, the Golden Rule, and love of nation. If Ugandans uphold these principles through the institutions of family, religion, education, and media, society will begin to change—and today’s children can look forward to a brighter future.

Providing a badly needed analysis of Uganda’s priorities and goals, this deeply empowering book discusses the Ugandan people and their nation, offering practical suggestions for improvements in the critical areas of social services, political systems, good governance, peace, security, foreign policy, and the economy.

Informazioni sull'autore:

Born and raised in Uganda, Pius Seguya has experienced the country’s way of life, its educational and other institutions, its politics, the effects of its history on the way the people live, and the challenge of tapping into the potential of Ugandan people and resources to build a prosperous economy.

From 2003 to 2012, he worked with impoverished communities as an advisor and liaison officer to the UNESCO Youth Ambassador for the Culture of Peace to help people build better lives for themselves and their children.

Because of his deep understanding of the correlation between politics and development, he became a candidate for the position of MP for the Kyadondo East constituency in 2011. The election did not go as planned, but his involvement in developing Ugandan society is still ongoing.
