In his examination of the ways in which the theatre after World War II has presented different aspects of the French Revolution and the Holocaust, Freddie Rokem shows us that by "performing history” actors-as witnesses for the departed witnesses-bring the historical past and the theatrical present together. Rokem analyzes the significance of stage representations of the French Revolution and the Holocaust in different national contexts: the United States and Europe for performances about the French Revolution and Israel for performances about the Holocaust. By pointing out both the great diversity and the common features of these performances, he draws attention to the complex collective efforts and the creativity of playwrights, directors, designers, and actors as they connect their theatrical energies to a specific historical past. He also focuses on the ways in which audiences in different cultures have been affected by and even had an infuence on the ideological debates embedded in these performances. Rokem looks at plays and performances by Yehoshua Sobol, Dudu Ma'ayan, and Hanoch Levin in Israel; Peter Brook, Ariane Mnouchkine, and Ingmar Bergman in Europe; and Orson Welles, Herbert Blau, and Robert Wilson in the United States. Drawing upon these and upon his own life in Europe, Israel, and the United States, Rokem makes us aware of the critical interaction between the failures of history and the efforts to create viable and meaningful works of art. Are opening hours are from 10:00 to 17:00, Monday to Saturday. (Other times available by appointment). There is nearby "Pay & Display" parking available, and we are short walk from Petersfield Station (On the London to Portsmouth route). "The Petersfield Bookshop" specialises in buying and selling Antiquarian and second-hand books, but also sells antique maps and prints and. Inside the shop there is a display of antique dolls from Ann Westwood's private collection. A special feature of the premises is a canopied forecourt where second-hand books can be bought 24 hours a day, 365 days a year! "The Petersfield Bookshop" was founded in 1918 by Dr Harry Roberts, an East End doctor who had helped set up the Panel Scheme (the predecessor of the National Health Service). In 1958, Frank Westwood bought the business and relocated it to Chapel Street. Sadly Frank passed away in January 2006 but the shop continues as a family business, with Frank's wife Ann and sons David and John being partners.…

Effetti del recesso
In caso di recesso dal presente contratto, ti rimborseremo tutti i pagamenti ricevuti, compresi i costi di spedizione (ad eccezione dei costi supplementari derivanti dalla tua eventuale scelta di un tipo di spedizione diverso dal tipo meno costoso di consegna standard da noi offerto).
Potremo effettuare una detrazione dal rimborso per la perdita di valore dei beni forniti, qualora tale perdita sia il risultato di una manipolazione non necessaria da parte tua.
Eseguiremo il rimborso senza indebito ritardo e non oltre 14 giorni dal giorno in cui saremo informati della tua decisione di recedere dal presente contratto.
Il rimborso sarà effettuato utilizzando lo stesso mezzo di pagamento da te usato per la transazione iniziale, salvo che tu non abbia espressamente concordato altrimenti; in ogni caso, non dovrai sostenere alcun costo quale conseguenza di tale rimborso.

Il termine è rispettato se rispedisci i beni prima della scadenza del periodo di 14 giorni. I costi diretti della restituzione dei beni saranno a tuo carico. Sei responsabile solo della diminuzione del valore dei beni risultante da una manipolazione diversa da quella necessaria per stabilire la natura, le caratteristiche e il funzionamento dei beni stessi.
Eccezioni al diritto di recesso
Il diritto di recesso non si applica a:
- La fornitura di giornali, periodici o riviste ad eccezione dei contratti di abbonamento; e
- La fornitura di contenuto digitale non fornito su un supporto materiale (ad es. su un CD o DVD), se al momento dell'invio dell'ordine hai accettato l'inizio dell'esecuzione e hai riconosciuto che non avresti potuto recedere una volta iniziata l'esecuzione.

We do our best to despatch orders within 3 business days, however due to staff shortages we are unable to post on Saturdays and Sundays. Overseas Orders will be sent by Air Mail unless otherwise instructed. Books are posted at buyers risk although we always obtain "Proof of Purchase". Please contact us if you need extra insurance or a slower service. Shipping costs are based on books weighing up to 1 KG (2.2 LB). If your book order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required.
NON UK buyers are STRONGLY ADVISED, to make contact, to ask for an accurate shipping cost BEFORE buying.
