Perspectives on Mozart Performance, published during the Mozart bicentennial year, brings together distinguished musicologists and performers to examine several aspects of Mozart in performance. Among the range of topics dicussed are the role of ornamentation, improvisation, cadenzas, Mozart's conception of tempo, Mozart's writing for strings and his use of the chromatic fourth, and, finally, Mendelssohn as a nineteenth-century interpreter of Mozart.
