J.M. Barrie’s story of a never-aging, magical boy has appealed to children's imaginations since the original stage play debuted in 1904.

The familiar tale takes Wendy, John, and Michael Darling on a flight over London and into Never-Never-Land where they meet mermaids, fairies, a vengeful crocodile, pirates, and, of course, Captain Hook and Tinker Bell. This version features a simplified text for young readers, a die-cut shape, and Roy Best’s timeless illustrations. Each page feels like a new adventure, with characters and settings drawn in vivid color and detail. Children are sure to gasp as Peter and the Darlings encounter dangerous obstacles and cheer along when they make it safely home.

Laughing Elephant’s version of Peter Pan is the perfect way to introduce young children to a classic tale. Best’s illustrations and Laughing Elephant’s craftsmanship bring new life to an iconic story, so that children of all ages will want to experience the magic again and again.

Roy Best (1892-unknown) was an American illustrator and painter. He was born in Waverly, Ohio and attended the Art Institute of Cincinnati and the Art Institute of Chicago. Best painted pin-up calendars, children’s books, several covers for The Saturday Evening Post, and a number of famous actresses, such as Grace Kelly. His illustrations for the Peter Pan Picture Book became the basis for the Peter Pan Bus Lines logo. Best retired to Cape Cod and worked there until his death.
