Riassunto:

We are each heroes in the making. How can this be? Because we can reflect on our actions. We have the potential to become heroes in every aspect and every action of our lives...

Being a hero is much more than committing a heroic act. One does not magically morph into a "hero" as a result of circumstance: the just-in-time rescue, rising up in the midst of a crisis, or even leading others out of a catastrophe. Becoming a hero is more than even these courageous acts. It requires deep insight—the type of philosophical investigation that the greatest minds throughout history have pondered.

With his book series Philosophy for Heroes, Clemens Lode bridges the gap between coding, science, philosophy, and, ultimately, leadership. In Philosophy for Heroes: Knowledge, he takes the reader on a journey, examining the foundations of knowledge. What is the basis of our understanding of the world? How does society define a "hero"? How do basic skills, such as language and mathematics, train our way of thinking and reasoning?

Becoming a hero requires more than courage. It requires speaking up, stepping forward from the sidelines, and taking action. For all of this, a deep insight into philosophy is the first, and most important, step.

Philosophy for Heroes connects the wisdom of the ages to today's real world.

Informazioni sull'autore:

What would lead a computer scientist to turn to philosophy for answers? Clemens Lode has a passion for solving problems by applying nature-inspired algorithms. In his examination into what makes computers "smart," he found that the answer requires more than just science...

With his book series Philosophy for Heroes, Clemens bridges the gap between coding, science, philosophy, and, ultimately, leadership. He takes the reader through a series of explorations—beginning with the foundations of knowledge and leading to epos, how our own lives can become stories of heroism.

Clemens Lode is the founder LODE Publishing, established to create a blueprint for heroes. His goal is to do this by providing a foundation in classical philosophy and modern science. His dream is to create a better world by teaching people what it means to be a hero---and how to become a hero in real life.

Clemens received his Masters in computer science from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. After focusing his studies on nature-inspired optimization, and his professional career on large-scale health-care server applications, he moved on to optimizing businesses and, ultimately, helping improve individual lives. Before creating LODE Publishing, he founded a company dedicated to bringing the power of nature to computers. Its most successful product was a program that used evolutionary algorithms to optimize game strategies---a task Google recently took up for its development of artificial intelligence. Clemens currently works as a business IT consultant, analyzing organization structure, team psychology, and helping with IT processes.
