Neuware - 'Photographic Photometry' is a comprehensive technical treatise that examines the scientific principles and practical methodologies involved in measuring light intensity through the medium of photography. Authored by esteemed researchers G.M.B. Dobson, I.O. Griffith, and D.N. Harrison, this work provides a detailed exploration of the physical processes that govern the relationship between light exposure and the resulting density on photographic emulsions. The text covers essential topics in the field of sensitometry, offering rigorous insights into the calibration of equipment and the systematic errors encountered in laboratory and astronomical settings. By detailing the application of microphotometers and other specialized apparatus, the authors establish a foundational framework for precise quantification in optical research. This volume is a significant contribution to the history of physical science, reflecting the era's advancements in experimental techniques that were crucial for the development of modern astrophysics and laboratory spectroscopy. Professionals and historians of science will find it an invaluable resource for understanding the evolution of light measurement and the technical challenges overcome by early 20th-century physicists. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
