Kunststoffe sind hochleistungsfähige Werkstoffe, die seit geraumer Zeit Anwendung in der Architektur finden. Sie faszinieren durch vielfältige technische Eigenschaften. Neben diesen macht ein breites Spektrum an Formgebungs- und Bearbeitungsmethoden das Material interessant für komplexe Geometrien in Verbindung mit digitalen Planungsprozessen. Nach den Pionierbauten der 1970er Jahre hat in jüngster Zeit eine Reihe von aufsehenerregenden Bauwerken erneut den Fokus auf das technische und ästhetische Potential von Kunststoffen gelenkt.
Bislang fehlte allerdings eine umfassende Darstellung zur Verwendung von Kunststoff in der Architektur. Das vorliegende Buch schließt diese Lücke und bietet eine Einführung in die konstruktiven und gestalterischen Möglichkeiten des Werkstoffs. Es werden nicht nur Kunststoffe und ihre Eigenschaften, sondern auch Herstellung, Verarbeitung und Konstruktionsprinzipien beschrieben und für die Architektur relevante Kunststoffprodukte und -halbzeuge vorgestellt. Eine Auswahl von ca. 25 internationalen gebauten Projekten, geordnet nach Kunststoffarten und Einsatzgebiet, dokumentiert die Anwendungen von Kunststoff in der Architektur. Ein Ausblick erläutert Tendenzen in der Forschung.
Plastics are high-performance materials of wide use in the built environment. Their versatile technical properties are particularly fascinating. A broad range of form-giving and finishing processes makes plastic especially interesting for complex geometries in combination with digital planning processes. Following the pioneering plastic structures of the 1970s, a number of spectacular buildings have in recent years highlighted the outstanding technical and aesthetic potential of the material.
Until now, however, there has been no systematic treatment of the use of plastic in architecture. This book seeks to fill that gap by providing an introduction to the structural and design possibilities of plastic. It introduces the material and its specific characteristics, describes various types of plastic in terms of their relevance for building, explains processing technologies and presents typical products and components. A concise presentation of twenty-five international built projects – organized by the type of application and the plastic involved – documents the broad range of plastic in architecture. Finally, a look ahead at the future describes the current state of the art in materials research.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stephan Engelsmann is a civil engineer; he did his studies at the Technische Universität München (Technical University of Munich). He also studied architecture at the University of Bath. He then worked as a research associate at the chair of Jörg Schlaich. Since 2002, he has been a professor of structural engineering and design at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart (Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design). In addition, he is a founding partner of the firm Engelsmann Peters Beratende Ingenieure in Stuttgart.
Valerie Spalding did her studies of architecture at RWTH Aachen (RWTH Aachen University). She has worked at a number of different architecture firms in Germany and abroad, including James Carpenter Design Associates in New York. Since 2005, she has been a research associate at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart; the focus of her research is plastics in architecture.
Stefan Peters is a civil engineer; he did his studies at Universität Stuttgart (Stuttgart University). He has worked at a number of different engineering firms, including Werner Sobek Ingenieure. Il periodo di recesso scade dopo 14 giorni dal giorno in cui tu o una terza parte, diversa dal vettore e da te indicata, acquisisce il possesso fisico dell'ultimo bene o dell'ultimo lotto o pezzo.
Per esercitare il diritto di recesso, compila e invia elettronicamente una dichiarazione esplicita sul nostro sito Web, alla voce “I miei acquisti” nella sezione “Mio account”. Ti comunicheremo senza indugio una conferma di ricezione di tale recesso su un supporto durevole (ad es. via e-mail).

Effetti del recesso
In caso di recesso dal presente contratto, ti rimborseremo tutti i pagamenti ricevuti, compresi i costi di spedizione (ad eccezione dei costi supplementari derivanti dalla tua eventuale scelta di un tipo di spedizione diverso dal tipo meno costoso di consegna standard da noi offerto).

Eseguiremo il rimborso senza indebito ritardo e non oltre 14 giorni dal giorno in cui saremo informati della tua decisione di recedere dal presente contratto.

Dovrai rispedire i beni o consegnarli a Romtrade Corp., Irving, Texas, U.S.A., senza indebito ritardo e, in ogni caso, entro 14 giorni dal giorno in cui ci hai comunicato la tua volontà di recedere dal presente contratto. Il termine è rispettato se rispedisci i beni prima della scadenza del periodo di 14 giorni. I costi diretti della restituzione dei beni saranno a tuo carico. Sei responsabile solo della diminuzione del valore dei beni risultante da una manipolazione diversa da quella necessaria per stabilire la natura, le caratteristiche e il funzionamento dei beni stessi.
Eccezioni al diritto di recesso
Il diritto di recesso non si applica a:
- La fornitura di giornali, periodici o riviste ad eccezione dei contratti di abbonamento; e
