It was a ferocious beast: over 1000 brake horsepower was available yet the driver found very little connection between throttle the awesome power at his disposal. Nevertheless, Porsche eventually its Can Am sledgehammer and it won the '72 and '73 Con Am championships in devastating style. porsche then turned its attention to endurance racing and proved that a turbocharged racing car could be civilised and reliable enough to with the 24 hours of Le Mans. The Group C challenger won six successive Le Mans races in the eighties. This book brings the Porsche turbo racing car story alive with a superb selection of photographs, including many in colour, and even a special insight into the joys and heartaches of running a Porsche turbo racing car as a privateer in international endurance racing.
