Neuware - The hardest math course in high school just landed on your kitchen table. You haven't factored anything since the nineties. It turns out that doesn't matter. Your teenager is taking pre-calculus, and the words coming home sound like a foreign language: asymptotes, radians, logarithms, limits. You want to help. You also remember almost none of it, and the one time you tried, the session ended with a slammed door. Most parents in this spot either attempt to relearn the whole course and quietly drown, or back away and hope the tutor and the videos are enough. There is a third option, and research on parent involvement says it is one of the strongest levers a teenager has. This book runs on a simple two-layer method. First, each chapter refreshes one core idea for you, in plain English, through everyday pictures: a function is a vending machine, the unit circle is a Ferris wheel rider tracked by her height and shadow, a limit is a destination you can read off a hand-built table. One worked example per idea, no drills, no problem sets. Then each chapter hands you the coaching layer: the exact questions to ask, the scripts that keep a tense session alive, and the traps that end one. It breaks everything down into bite sized pieces, and it explains the math well enough that you can sit beside it with confidence. Inside this book: - The Five Questions that work on any math problem, no math knowledge required- Plain-English refreshers on functions, graphs, trigonometry, and limits, each with one worked example- Say-this-not-that scripts for homework nights, tests, and the moment your teen says you wouldn't get it- A complete 25-minute homework session, transcribed with its failures and recoveries included- A three-level fade plan that hands the work back and builds your teenager's independence>By the last page, pre-calculus will feel less intimidating for the whole family, and you will know exactly how to sit beside it. …

Your teenager is taking pre-calculus, and the words coming home sound like a foreign language: asymptotes, radians, logarithms, limits. You want to help. Most parents in this spot either attempt to relearn the whole course and quietly drown, or back away and hope the tutor and the videos are enough.
Inside this book:
- The Five Questions that work on any math problem, no math knowledge required
- Plain-English refreshers on functions, graphs, trigonometry, and limits, each with one worked example
- Say-this-not-that scripts for homework nights, tests, and the moment your teen says you wouldn't get it
- A complete 25-minute homework session, transcribed with its failures and recoveries included
- A three-level fade plan that hands the work back and builds your teenager's independence
This book is for the parent of a 15-to-18-year-old who wants to help a child that is struggling in math, or simply to follow what their teenager is learning, without becoming a tutor. No math degree. No prior tutoring experience. Twenty minutes at a time, at your own kitchen table.
By the last page, pre-calculus will feel less intimidating for the whole family, and you will know exactly how to sit beside it.
