Neuware - 'Propertius' presents the elegiac works of Sextus Propertius, one of the most influential and sophisticated poets of the Roman Augustan age. This collection is centered on the poet's intense, often volatile relationship with his muse, Cynthia, exploring the depths of passion, longing, and betrayal through a lens of profound emotional complexity. Propertius is celebrated for his masterful use of mythological imagery and his ability to weave together private desire with the broader political and social realities of ancient Rome. The poems within this volume demonstrate the evolution of the Latin elegy, moving from deeply personal expressions of love to more ambitious reflections on Roman history and legend. Known for his scholarly depth and challenging style, Propertius's work remains a vital part of the classical canon, offering insights into the cultural landscape of the first century BC. This work is an essential resource for those interested in classical literature, providing a window into the intellectual and emotional life of one of antiquity's most compelling voices. The enduring appeal of 'Propertius' lies in its raw honesty and its mastery of the poetic form. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible. Therefore, you may see the original copyright references, library stamps (as most of these works have been housed in our most important libraries around the world), and other notations in the work. This work is in the public domain in the United States of America, and possibly other nations. Within the United States, you may freely copy and distribute this work, as no entity (individual or corporate) has a copyright on the body of the work.As a reproduction of a historical artifact, this work may contain missing or blurred pages, poor pictures, errant marks, etc. Scholars believe, and we concur, that this work is important enough to be preserved, reproduced, and made generally available to the public.
