The increase in occupational use of protective gloves has generated more interest in their protective capacity against harmful chemicals and blood-borne infections. This singular book covers current standards and requirements on quality related to the possible side effects of glove use. The book also integrates the evaluation of advanced technical standard test methods with information on accessing permeation and penetration test data, medical reports on side effects, and applications in the glove selection process. International authorities discuss relevant issues from different areas, including directives and regulations concerning the use and safety requirements for protective gloves in Europe and the U.S., standard quality control test methods, testing of protective effect in vivo with animals, and clinical diagnostic testing in patients. The advantages and disadvantages of glove use are also highlighted in this excellent text.
