The Psi Enigma: When Anomalous Experiences Transcend the Everyday World explores one of science’s most fascinating frontiers: the study of psi phenomena including telepathy, precognition and mind– matter interactions.
While these phenomena remain controversial, recent research suggests current scientific paradigms may be too narrow to account for them. Professor Thomas Rabeyron draws on psychology, psychoanalysis, philosophy and physics to introduce the groundbreaking Orpheus Model – the first comprehensive theoretical framework for understanding psi.

The book synthesizes decades of research while opening new perspectives on consciousness, time and our relationship with the world. Key features include an overview of psi’s rejection in Western culture, exploration of
epistemological issues and the psi paradox, and detailed presentation of the Orpheus Model. The text concludes by demonstrating how seriously considering the “psi hypothesis” can lead to novel and useful shifts in our perception of space, time and consciousness concepts.

The Psi Enigma serves as essential reading for students in anomalous psychology and parapsychology. It provides invaluable insights for clinicians, philosophers of mind and physicists engaged in consciousness studies. This comprehensive text offers crucial theoretical foundations for researchers and practitioners exploring the boundaries between conventional science and anomalous phenomena, making it an indispensable resource for anyone investigating the nature of human consciousness and its potential capabilities.

Thomas Rabeyron is a professor of clinical psychology and psychopathology at Lyon 2 University and an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh (Koestler Parapsychology Unit). He also co-founded, in 2009, the Center for Information, Research, and Counseling for Exceptional Experiences (CIRCEE), where he is the direction of the counseling service. A junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France, he is the author of nearly one hundred scientific publications and of the book Clinique des expériences exceptionnelles, published in 2020 by Dunod.
