This is a diverse and eclectic collection of autobiographical writings (by the actor and writer Tim Dalgleish) which includes pieces on authors such as Jack Kerouac, Ted Hughes and Jack Trevor Story, filmmakers Alfred Hitchcock and Anthony Mingella and well known theatre luminaries, such as, Antonin Artaud and lesser known practitioners, such as, Peter Sykes of RAT Theatre. Tim Dalgleish is the author of two volumes of poetry The Stones of Mithras and Penumbra, numerous plays and a book on acting called Playing Macbeth: An Actor’s Journey into the Role. As an actor he has worked with theatre companies from RAT Theatre to Voices of the Holocaust. He played Snout in A Midsummer Night’s Dream as part of the RSC’s Open Stages programme and was the lead in Macbeth for the Open Theatre Group. He has appeared briefly in several feature films, the most recent being Finding Fatimah (with Danny Ashok and Nina Wadia), the British gangster movie Milk and Honey (with Mark Wingett) and was also in the short film Imagine which received Special Mention at the Marbella International Film Festival. His book Playing Macbeth was called by reviewers 'A thrilling journey', 'Monumental' and a ‘Fantastic insider’s view’. He regularly narrates audio books, the latest being: Exit Stage Left by Adam Croft and After Dunkirk: D-Day and How We Planned the Second Front by Major John Dalgleish (his great uncle).
