Hi, my name is Jodie, but everyone calls me 'Darcie’s Mum'. Come to think of it, my friends are called 'Billy’s Mum', 'Evie’s Mum' and 'Ella's Mum' - perhaps I need to work on deepening my friendships a little…Come along with me, a mum who has no idea how to interact with new people, on my daily school run, attempting to get to know people beyond their weather preferences. I’ll be stepping way out of my comfort zone (for my own good and for your amusement!) as I ask five school run acquaintances one question a day for six weeks. This book is for any parent who has ever felt awkward at the school gates…"Light and fun but deep and thought provoking; inspiration for parents everywhere!" Saffia Farr, Juno Magazine

Jodie Alexander-Frye wrote her first book in 2018, after encountering social awkwardness at her children's school gates, and wondering what might be done (and, indeed, written) about it. 'Questions at the School Gate' is Jodie's personal journey over six weeks of conversations with real people at school in Devon, England, where she and her family live. Jodie is also a published songwriter and mum of three children under ten. Her favourite writer is Bill Bryson and she loves to read non-fiction books in her free time, one of her favourites being '84 Charing Cross Road' by Helene Hanff.
