f/ppiece+xii, Errata slip between pp.viii/ix, + 369, 15 further ills, 12 being on plates ex-pagination, 3 being text figures; 1996-dated signature of eminent medieval historian Henry Summerson to top front endpaper, tanning strips alongside gutters of outer sides of endpapers offset from jacket wraparounds (possibly common to most copies), otherwise internally clean, tight and unmarked in clean, unworn, black cloth covers; unclipped jacket generally clean (though a few faint surface marks) but marred by extensive, though minor, edge rubbing/nicking and a few very small chips, major tears down joints now internally repaired with archival tear-repair tape, slightly spine sun-darkened (will add protective sleeve when ordered). Uncommon.
