Radiological Imaging: The Theory of Image Formation, Detection, and Processing, Volume 2 provides information pertinent to the developments in radiological imaging. This book presents the essential analytical tools of linear systems theory and the theory of stochastic processes that are applicable to any imaging system. Organized into six chapters, this volume begins with an overview of developing a simple yet reasonably realistic model to describe a variety of imaging systems. This text then deals with the different aspects of three-dimensional or tomographic imaging. Other chapters consider the multi-coding procedure, including the use of sequences of zone-plate apertures, the rotating slit aperture, and the time-modulated pseudorandom pinhole array. This book discusses as well how one can analyze the statistical properties of radiographic images that are limited by Poisson noise. The final chapter deals with scattered radiation and its effect on image quality. This book is a valuable resource for graduate students in optical sciences.
