This volume comprises papers from the 18th Conference on Systems Engineering Research (CSER). The theme of this volume, “Recent Trends and Advances in Model-Based Systems Engineering,” reflects the fact that systems engineering is undergoing a transformation motivated by mission and system complexity and enabled by technological advances such as model-based systems engineering, digital engineering, and the convergence of systems engineering with other disciplines. This conference is focused on exploring recent trends and advances in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and the synergy of MBSE with simulation technology and digital engineering. Contributors have submitted papers on MBSE methods, modeling approaches, integration of digital engineering with MBSE, standards, modeling languages, ontologies and metamodels, and economics analysis of MBSE to respond to the challenges posed by 21st century systems. What distinguishes this volume are the latest advances in MBSE research, the convergence of MBSE with digital engineering, and recent advances in applied research in MBSE, including growing convergence with systems science and decision science. This volume is appropriate as a reference text in graduate engineering courses in Model-Based Systems Engineering.

<div>Dr. Azad Madni is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and the Dean’s professor of Astronautical Engineering and Civil and Environmental Engineering in University of Southern California’s Viterbi School of Engineering. He is the Executive Director of USC’s Systems Architecting and Engineering Program and the founding director of the Distributed Autonomy and Intelligent Systems Laboratory. He is the founder and CEO of Intelligent Systems Technology, Inc., a hi-tech company that conducts research and offers educational courses in intelligent systems for education and training. He is the Principal Systems Engineering Advisor to The Aerospace Corporation. He received his Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. degrees in Engineering from UCLA. His recent awards include 2021 INCOSE Benefactor Award, 2021 IEEE AESS Judith A. Resnik Space Award, 2020 IEEE SMC Norbert Wiener Award, 2020NDIA’s Ferguson Award for Excellence in Systems Engineering, 2020 IEEE-USA Entrepreneur Achievement Award, 2019 IEEE AESS Pioneer Award, 2019 INCOSE Founders Award, 2019 AIAA/ASEE LelandAtwood Award, 2019 ASME CIE Leadership Award,2019 Society for Modeling and Simulation International Presidential Award, and 2011 INCOSE Pioneer Award.He is a Life Fellow/Fellow of IEEE, INCOSE, AIAA, AAAS, SDPS, IETE, and WAS. He is the co-founder and current chair of IEEE SMC Technical Committee on Model Based Systems Engineering.He is the author of Transdisciplinary Systems Engineering: Exploiting Convergence in a Hyper-Connected World(Springer 2018). He is the co-author of Tradeoff Decisionsin System Design(Springer, 2016).Dr. Barry Boehm is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and distinguished professor of Computer Science I the Viterbi School of Engineering of University of Southern California. His honors and awards include INCOSE Pioneer, Guest Lecturer of the USSR Academy of Sciences, the AIAA Information Systems Award, the J.D. Warnier Prize for Excellence in Information Sciences, the ISPA Freiman Award for Parametric Analysis, the NSIA Grace Murray Hopper Award, the Office of the Secretary of Defense Award for Excellence, the ASQC Lifetime Achievement Award, and the ACM Distinguished Research Award in Software Engineering . He is an AIAA Fellow, an ACM Fellow, an IEEE Fellow. He received his B.A. degree from Harvard University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from UCLA, all in Mathematics. Dan Erwin is a Professor and Chair of Astronautical Engineering, and an Associate Fellow of AIAA. He is also the faculty member who oversaw the all-student research team that set the student altitude record for rockets to pass the Karman line into outer space. He is the Co-Director of USC’s Distributed Autonomy and Intelligent Systems Laboratory. His awards include the 2017 Engineers' Council Distinguished Engineering Project Achievement Award, 2016 Engineers' Council Distinguished Engineering Educator Award, 2006 USC-LDS Student Association Outstanding Teaching Award, 1995 USC School of Engineering Outstanding Teaching Award, and 1993 TRW, Inc. Dr. Sievers earned Ph.D. and masters degrees in Computer Science and a Bachelor'sdegree in Electrical Engineering all from UCLA. He has published over fifty journal and conference papers and is an INCOSE Fellow, AIAA Associate Fellow and IEEE Senior Member.Marilee Wheaton is a Systems Engineering Fellow of The Aerospace Corporation and President-Elect of the International Council on Systems Engineering. She is a Fellow of AIAA and INCOSE, and a Senior Member of IEEE. Previously, she was a General Manager at The Aerospace Corporation. She has also served as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Systems Architecting and Engineering Program at the University of Southern California for eleven years. She is a Life Member and Fellow of the Society of Women Engineers. She is an Advisory Board Member of California State University, Northridge. She received her B.A. degree in Mathematics from California Lutheran University and her M.S. degree in Systems Architecting and Engineering form University of Southern California. She has been involved in the Conference on Systems Engineering Research in a leadership role for nearly a decade. She is currently pursuing her doctorate at the University of Southern California in Astronautical Engineering with a specialization in Systems Engineering. </div>

Hai il diritto di recedere dal presente contratto, senza indicarne le ragioni, entro 14 giorni.

Il periodo di recesso scade dopo 14 giorni dal giorno in cui

tu acquisisci, o un terzo designato diverso dal vettore e da te acquisisce, il possesso fisico dell'ultimo bene o l'ultimo lotto o pezzo.

Per esercitare il diritto di recesso, sei tenuto a informare Revaluation Books, Exstowe, Exton, EX3 0PP, Exeter, United Kingdom, 44 1179083586, della tua decisione di recedere dal presente contratto tramite una dichiarazione esplicita (ad esempio lettera inviata per posta, fax o posta elettronica). A tal fine puoi utilizzare il modulo tipo di recesso, ma non e' obbligatorio. Puoi anche compilare e inviare elettronicamente il modulo tipo di recesso o qualsiasi altra esplicita dichiarazione sul nostro sito web, dalla sezione "Ordini" nel "Mio Account". Nel caso scegliessi questa opzione, ti trasmetteremo senza indugio una conferma di ricevimento su un supporto durevole (ad esempio per posta elettronica).

Per rispettare il termine di recesso, � sufficiente inviare la comunicazione relativa all'esercizio del diritto di recesso prima della scadenza del periodo di recesso.

Effetti del recesso

Se recedi dal presente contratto, ti saranno rimborsati tutti i pagamenti che hai effettuato a nostro favore, compresi i costi di consegna (ad eccezione dei costi supplementari derivanti dalla tua eventuale scelta di un tipo di consegna diverso dal tipo meno costoso di consegna standard da noi offerto). Potremo trattenere dal rimborso le somme derivanti da una diminuzione del valore del prodotto risultante da una tua non necessaria manipolazione.

I rimborsi verranno effettuati senza indebito ritardo e in ogni caso non oltre 14 giorni dal giorno in cui siamo stati informati della tua decisione di recedere dal presente contratto.

Detti rimborsi saranno effettuati utilizzando lo stesso mezzo di pagamento da te usato per la transazione iniziale, salvo che tu non abbia espressamente convenuto altrimenti; in ogni caso, non dovrai sostenere alcun costo quale conseguenza di tale rimborso. Il rimborso pu� essere sospeso fino al ricevimento dei beni oppure fino all'avvenuta dimostrazione da parte tua di aver rispedito i beni, se precedente.

Ti preghiamo di rispedire i beni o di consegnarli a Revaluation Books, Edward Bowditch Ltd, Clifton Heights, Triangle West, BS8 1EJ, Bristol, United Kingdom, 44 1179083586, senza indebiti ritardi e in ogni caso entro 14 giorni dal giorno in cui hai comunicato il tuo recesso dal presente contratto. Il termine � rispettato se rispedisci i beni prima della scadenza del periodo di 14 giorni. I costi diretti della restituzione dei beni saranno a tuo carico. Sei responsabile solo della diminuzione del valore dei beni risultante da una manipolazione del bene diversa da quella necessaria per stabilire la natura, le caratteristiche e il funzionamento dei beni.

Eccezioni al diritto di recesso

Il diritto di recesso non si applica in caso di:

fornitura di giornali, periodici e riviste ad eccezione dei contratti di abbonamento per la fornitura di tali pubblicazioni;
fornitura di contenuto digitale (inclusi applicazioni, software, ebook, MP3, ecc.) mediante un supporto non materiale (per esempio un CD o un DVD) se al momento dell'inoltro dell'ordine hai espressamente consentito all'inizio dell'esecuzione accettando la perdita del diritto di recesso in conseguenza dell'inizio di esecuzione.
