"Reservation: Its Purpose and Method" is a scholarly and theological examination of the practice of Eucharistic reservation within the Christian tradition, specifically focusing on its application within the Anglican communion. Written during a period of significant liturgical debate, David Leslie Murray provides a reasoned exploration of why the consecrated elements are set aside and the specific methods by which this practice is conducted. The work delves into the historical precedents, the theological justifications, and the practical rubrics that govern the reservation of the Blessed Sacrament for the communion of the sick and for devotional purposes.

Murray's analysis serves as both a historical record of Anglo-Catholic practice in the early 20th century and a guide for clergy and laity interested in the sacramental life of the church. By addressing the liturgical, canonical, and devotional aspects of reservation, the book offers a comprehensive overview of a subject that has long been central to debates regarding church identity and practice. This volume remains an important resource for those studying the evolution of liturgical theology and the specific traditions of the Church of England and its sister churches.
