Paperback. Henry Quinn never meant to break the world. When his mother is caught in a catastrophic magical accident, Henry is taken from the human world into Cathair na Crann, a hidden city grown from living wood and governed by ancient laws meant to keep magic-and those who wield it-contained. The city's healers preserve his mother in stasis, suspended between life and death, while the council debates what she represents: a mistake, a liability, or something far more dangerous. As Henry trains under the city's watchful eye, he learns that magic is not cast so much as listened to-that every working leaves a mark, and every boundary exists for a reason. But grief has its own gravity, and Henry's growing power draws the attention of forces far beyond the council's control. When a stranger offers him hope where the city offers only patience, Henry must decide how much he is willing to risk for the chance to save the one person who has always believed in him. His choice will test the limits of love, fracture ancient protections, and awaken a threat long thought exiled. This item is printed on demand. Henry Quinn never meant to break the world.
When his mother is caught in a catastrophic magical accident, Henry is taken from the human world into Cathair na Crann, a hidden city grown from living wood and governed by ancient laws meant to keep magic—and those who wield it—contained. The city’s healers preserve his mother in stasis, suspended between life and death, while the council debates what she represents: a mistake, a liability, or something far more dangerous.
As Henry trains under the city’s watchful eye, he learns that magic is not cast so much as listened to—that every working leaves a mark, and every boundary exists for a reason. But grief has its own gravity, and Henry’s growing power draws the attention of forces far beyond the council’s control.
When a stranger offers him hope where the city offers only patience, Henry must decide how much he is willing to risk for the chance to save the one person who has always believed in him. His choice will test the limits of love, fracture ancient protections, and awaken a threat long thought exiled.
