Structural vibrations affect the performance of many engineering systems and contribute to noise pollution in transportation systems and buildings. This volume contains 14 contributions from international authors on the design of responsive systems for active vibration control. A sampling of topics includes piezoelectric multi-degree-of-freedom actuators and sensors; damping control in systems assembled by semi-active joints; and the vibro-isolation of sensitive equipment.
