Meichenbaum, a clinical psychologist who works with trauma victims, taught at the U. of Waterloo, Canada, and co-founded cognitive behavior therapy, draws on his clinical experience and research findings to present military personnel and their families with a roadmap for improving resilience in physical, interpersonal, emotional, cognitive, behavioral, and spiritual domains. He discusses the concept of resilience, and research evidence on the adjustment capacity of returning service members, family members, and civilians to adapt to adversity, then specific actions to improve resilience.
