Chapter One
A brown and white-feathered bird with a long tail was born in the desert southwest.When it came time to venture out into the world, he marveled at what he saw: the burning sun; the clear, blue sky; the warm sand that stretched for miles in all directions.
A Banded Gecko scurried in front of him - a blur of red and yellow. "Wait!" the young bird cried.
"You can't climb," the gecko scoffed, as he disappeared over a rock.
Hearing a monotone, low-pitched song, the curious bird went to investigate.
As he peered into a dense, Prickly Pear Cactus, a Cactus Wren peered back.
"Play with me!" the bird pleaded.
"No! You can't follow me into thorny shrubs and cacti."
As the bird sullenly reflected, two hummingbirds flitted by. "Hey!" he joyously called.
"You can't fly, up into the sky, like us!" the hummingbirds taunted.
Then, with a humming sound, produced by their rapidly beating wings, they flew off.
As the bird trudged along, he spotted a group of Gambel's Quail proudly strutting by.
He quickly joined their march.
"Go away!" they sang in unison. "You are not one of us!"
By this time, the young bird was feeling quite discouraged and lonely, but he continued on. Glancing up at a Giant Saguaro, he saw a Gila Woodpecker pecking a hole. "Please, come down!" the bird pleaded.
"No, I have work to do," the woodpecker replied, then resumed his task.
As the bird stumbled along, he spotted a tiny Elf Owl nestled in one of the holes the woodpecker had abandoned. "Wake up!" the bird cried out.
"No!" the owl cackled in a high-pitched voice. "I sleep in the day. Come back when it gets dark."
The brown and white bird with the long tail was distraught. Where did he belong? Lost in his thoughts, he almost ran into an old Desert Tortoise. Though the Desert Tortoise was busy digging a deep burrow, as a shelter from the hot sun, he looked up. "Where are you going?"
"I don't know," the sad bird replied, as a tear rolled down his face. "I can't climb, fly or burrow."
"No special talents?" the Desert Tortoise asked, amused.
The bird hung his head glumly. "No, and I don't belong anywhere."
"You are special," the wise Desert Tortoise proclaimed. "But you will have to find out for yourself what makes you unique."
Thinking about what the Desert Tortoise said, the young bird walked on. A loud rattling noise snapped him out of his musing.
"You better get out of here!" a Diamondback Rattlesnake hissed, "or you will be my dinner!"
Feeling fear for the first time in his life, the bird ran as fast as his legs could go. As he ran, he was joined by another bird that looked just like him!
They continued to run, reaching a speed of over fifteen miles per hour. When they were far from the venomous rattlesnake, they raised their tails and came to an abrupt halt.
"I can run!" the surprised bird exclaimed. "Of course you can, you're a Roadrunner!" And they happily ran off into the desert together.

Hai il diritto di recedere dal presente contratto entro 14 giorni senza fornire alcuna motivazione.
Il periodo di recesso scade dopo 14 giorni dal giorno in cui tu o una terza parte, diversa dal vettore e da te indicata, acquisisce il possesso fisico dell'ultimo bene o dell'ultimo lotto o pezzo.
Per esercitare il diritto di recesso, compila e invia elettronicamente una dichiarazione esplicita sul nostro sito Web, alla voce “I miei acquisti” nella sezione “Mio account”. Ti comunicheremo senza indugio una conferma di ricezione di tale recesso su un supporto durevole (ad es. via e-mail).
Per rispettare il termine di recesso, è sufficiente inviare la comunicazione relativa all'esercizio del diritto di recesso prima della scadenza del periodo di recesso stesso.
Effetti del recesso
In caso di recesso dal presente contratto, ti rimborseremo tutti i pagamenti ricevuti, compresi i costi di spedizione (ad eccezione dei costi supplementari derivanti dalla tua eventuale scelta di un tipo di spedizione diverso dal tipo meno costoso di consegna standard da noi offerto).
Potremo effettuare una detrazione dal rimborso per la perdita di valore dei beni forniti, qualora tale perdita sia il risultato di una manipolazione non necessaria da parte tua.
Eseguiremo il rimborso senza indebito ritardo e non oltre 14 giorni dal giorno in cui saremo informati della tua decisione di recedere dal presente contratto.
Il rimborso sarà effettuato utilizzando lo stesso mezzo di pagamento da te usato per la transazione iniziale, salvo che tu non abbia espressamente concordato altrimenti; in ogni caso, non dovrai sostenere alcun costo quale conseguenza di tale rimborso.
Possiamo trattenere il rimborso finché non avremo ricevuto i beni oppure finché non avrai fornito la prova di averli rispediti, a seconda di quale condizione si verifichi per prima.
Dovrai rispedire i beni o consegnarli a BargainBookStores, Grand Rapids, Michigan, U.S.A., senza indebito ritardo e, in ogni caso, entro 14 giorni dal giorno in cui ci hai comunicato la tua volontà di recedere dal presente contratto. Il termine è rispettato se rispedisci i beni prima della scadenza del periodo di 14 giorni. I costi diretti della restituzione dei beni saranno a tuo carico. Sei responsabile solo della diminuzione del valore dei beni risultante da una manipolazione diversa da quella necessaria per stabilire la natura, le caratteristiche e il funzionamento dei beni stessi.
Eccezioni al diritto di recesso
Il diritto di recesso non si applica a:
- La fornitura di giornali, periodici o riviste ad eccezione dei contratti di abbonamento; e
- La fornitura di contenuto digitale non fornito su un supporto materiale (ad es. su un CD o DVD), se al momento dell'invio dell'ordine hai accettato l'inizio dell'esecuzione e hai riconosciuto che non avresti potuto recedere una volta iniziata l'esecuzione.
