As an evangelical speaker, pastor and author of the bestselling book Intercessory Prayer, Sheets has built a career on offering Christians disciplined methodology for gaining spiritual ground. Here, he delivers staunch followers another tool to add to their Christian armor. The author defines the Christian's spiritual journey through several steps: first, realizing the problem of besetting sins; second, recognizing the provision of Christ; and then implementing the process by which real and lasting change occurs. Sheets believes that Christians must know themselves and understand how the fickle part of their nature is content to remain defeated by failures and lusts, even while the other part sincerely longs for change. Believers have to recognize Satan as the enemy, Sheets says, and then lay hold of God's resources for spiritual victory as outlined in the book's handy five-step formula (believing in Christ's sacrificial work on the cross, abiding in God's word, knowing the truth, claiming release and spiritual freedom, and persevering until life's end). Sheets supplies a steady resource that loyal fans will embrace.
