Neuware - 'Ruby Robert Alias Bob Fitzsimmons' is a captivating biographical account of one of boxing's most legendary figures. Written by Robert H. Davis, a contemporary and close observer of the sport, this work chronicles the extraordinary life and career of Robert 'Bob' Fitzsimmons, the first man to win world titles in three different weight classes: middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight. Known affectionately as 'Ruby Robert' due to his freckled complexion and reddish hair, Fitzsimmons was a unique figure in the ring, possessing a devastating punch and a strategic mind that defied his lean physique. The narrative delves into the gritty world of late 19th and early 20th-century prize fighting, detailing Fitzsimmons' most famous bouts, including his iconic 1897 victory over James J. Corbett. Davis provides an intimate look at the character of a man who was as eccentric outside the ring as he was formidable within it. Readers will discover the spirit of an era when boxing was transitioning into a regulated sport and find a rich tribute to a true pioneer of pugilism. This volume serves as an essential record for fans of sports history and those interested in the golden age of American boxing. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
