Red cloth cover. xii+341, 179 text figs; small sig.of D.Newton (the late David Newton, Emeritus Prof.of Physics at Lancaster University) top fr.pastedown, earlier sig. of A.E.Newton and number 201 top fr.endpaper, latter's academic address 'Owens College, Victoria University, Manchester' recto end fly leaf with his extensive ink pen-written note verso extending to recto end-paper, pencil ticks to contents list and ink underlining intermittently throughout presumably by A.E.Newton (other D.Newton books never have this), occ. penciled technical notes by D.Newton, numerous slipped in pages and slips, mostly mathematical notes by D.Newton, but also a 2010 letter from him to 'Derek' on Euler (presumably photocopied before being sent, a 1997 Guardian obit. of Lamb's grandson climatologist H.H.Lamb. Internally otherwise quite sound by covers , though clean, rubbed to extremities and back joint.
