Two gay men argue comically about dating protocol at the end of their first date. Some familiar characters are reimagined into new scenes: Camille Claudel, Rodin, Debussy, Jane and Mr Darcy. Then there's Larisa, who came to Canada for a new life with Petro. He’s lied about everything and now, pregnant and homesick, she wants to go home to Ukraine.
In another scene, alter-egos become embodied when a chance encounter between two young women—one black, one white—escalates into the beginning of a relationship.
These are just a few of the fascinating protagonists to be found here, ready for student actors to discover and breathe life into.
In this volume of fifteen scenes from stage plays, writers from Lithuania, USA, Canada, Scotland, UK and Italy bring us into the company of an array of memorable characters in unexpected situations.
