Photocopy of the original 27 page unbound revised script for a radio broadcast of The Adventures of Sam Spade, #49, ÔThe Corkscrew CaperÕ which aired on Sunday, August 31, 1947, written by Bob Tallman and Gil Doud, based on the great detective character created by Dashiell Hammett, starring Howard Duff in the title role, with Lurene Tuttle. A few minor marks, else fine. The Adventures of Sam Spade was largely the creation of producer / director William Spier and premiered on ABC Radio on July 12, 1946, as a Friday night Summer series, then was picked up by CBS in the Fall 1946 and enjoyed great success through 1949, when Duff left the series to make films, whereupon NBC stepped in and hired Stephen Dunne to play Spade, as the series continued to run until April, 1951. This radio adaptation of HammettÕs San Francisco detective, Sam Spade, ran for an amazing 245 episodes, produced by all three major radio broadcasters, and was sponsored throughout by Wildroot Hair Cream. In 1947, scriptwriters Jason James and Bob Tallman received an Edgar Award for Best Radio Drama from the Mystery Writers of America. Prior to this series, Sam Spade was played on CBS radio in productions of The Maltese Falcon by both Edward G. Robinson (in 1943), and by Humphrey Bogart (in 1946) who starred in the classic 1941 John Huston film The Maltese Falcon. Codice inventario libreria 17174E
