'This is a concise account of the principal sea battles of history, taking us through some 2,000 years from the Graeco-Persian Wars in 499-448BC to the end of the Second World War. The number of sea battles throughout history is obviously so large that the book has been limited, with a few exceptions, to thsoe battles fought between cosiderable forces in the open sea.
