Condition: Good; Third edition. Books full-bound in brown leather, with gilt tooling and raised bands on spines. Marbled text block edges. Leather title labels, with gilt titling, remain on volumes two and three only. Boards have been professionally reattached on the first 4 vols; vol. 5 boards are cracked at joints but still attached. Gilt on the spines is dull and faded in spots, and some leather has chipped away to reveal repairs at joints and at the head/tail of spines. Interiors are remarkably clean with light staining on endpapers, and scarcely any foxing. There is some darkening and cracking to leather but this is a charming set with lots of character. Leather.
