Seven Steps to the Marriage Altar: How to Practice the Principles of Betrothal is a practical book laying out the Bible principles of how to get to the marriage altar following Biblical betrothal principles. This book was born through bringing up my children and helping them work their way through the pressures of the dating culture. My three married children have followed God's way to find a spouse and were able to get to the marriage altar pure. These principles have been mined out of the Bible because of the need of guiding numbers of young people on how to get to the marriage altar without all the scars of immorality that many bear. God intended that marriage would be the highest human relationship that should be enjoyed, but sadly it has sunk very low in our society. Many have played the dating game and then later in life have to wrestle with those bad memories. God did not intend for it to be so. When choosing the Biblical practice of betrothal that is illustrated in Scripture a young person and their parents are often left with few patterns to follow. So I wrote this book to lay out many of the Bible principles. Those principles are then applied to the practice of how to get to the marriage altar in a way that would please God. No one is perfect, and following God's principles will not mean you get to the altar without any mistakes, but it will set you well on your road to begin your marriage life more in line with God's purposes. Douglas Hammett has been in the gospel ministry for almost 40 years. He has been involved in many areas of ministry, often covering several areas at the same time. Those areas include Pastor, Church Planter, Staff Evangelist, College Professor and President, Author, Life/Ministry Coach, and Missionary. He has traveled extensively on mission trips around the world as well as preaching for Bible, Missions and Revival Conferences. He has a heart for God’s people and desires especially to help preachers advance their ministry for Christ whether in the United States, or on the foreign field. He served for over 20 years as Senior Pastor of the Lehigh Valley Baptist Church in Emmaus, PA. Then in October, 2010, he moved to Botswana, Africa to serve there as a missionary. Pastor Hammett and his wife, Beverly, have 4 children and 7 grandchildren.
