Informazioni sull’autore
As Kevin reached retirement age, he experienced firsthand the act of transitioning from a life in the public sector to the corporate world. He wrote this book to assist other transitioning public sector employees and hopefully ease their move to the corporate security world. Kevin is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, Troy State University and Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command. Kevin and his wife reside in North Carolina where Kevin currently works in the private sector as a Director of Asset Protection and Investigations for a company doing business in 94 countries. Phil Carlson's law enforcement, and corporate security career spans several decades. Phil has worked at the state, local & federal levels of law enforcement.
His law enforcement career began with the Cromwell, CT Police Dept., where he worked Patrol Division, was a Fatal Accident Traffic Investigator, and was assigned to the Detective Division. He was a Field Training Officer, and also an instructor providing in-service training to fellow officers.
Phil then moved to the Space Coast of Florida and began working for the Brevard County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), where he was assigned to the Patrol Division, and was later selected for the elite Selective Enforcement Unit / Motorcycle Division, responsible for dignitary escorts, traffic and DUI enforcement, and traffic and crowd control during numerous Space Shuttle launches at the Kennedy Space Center.
Phil transferred to the Orange County, FL Sheriff's Office (OCSO) in Orlando, Fl where he worked his favorite assignment, Patrol Division. After a short time, he was promoted to Deputy Sheriff First Class and became an agency Field Training Officer. Phil was a certified instructor and taught Patrol Procedures, Arrest Techniques and other patrol related concepts
After the events of 9/11, Phil was recruited by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as an Instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. He instructed federal police recruits from over 90 federal law enforcement agencies on many varied subject matters including but not limited to officer response tactics, patrol procedures, physical fitness, arrest techniques, crowd control, defensive tactics, OC Spray and chemical munitions, intermediate weapons to include baton and Taser, tactics and tactical entries, tactics while flying armed and CPR/ first aid. Phil also was promoted to Senior Instructor responsible for development, delivery and accreditation of many of these programs. He was the Senior Instructor over the Law Enforcement Control Tactics Instructor Training Program, the largest Control Tactics Instructor program in the nation.
He is currently Director of Corporate Security for a telecom and energy company which operates in 26 countries. He was the original founder and owner of Command Presence Training Associates, LLC, and along with his wife Paula was the President and Founder of Policing Performance Concepts, (PPC). Phil was also an instructor for the U. S. Bureau of Justice Assistance VALOR Officer Safety Program, and was a member of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA), and the FBI InfraGard.
