Riassunto
Industries brought not only development but also destruction and pain; more or less in equal measure. By recognizing this, the industrial giants, the world over, have long realized the need for keeping the social dissatisfaction of the local community against industrial unit to the minimum, as they were aware that any disturbance in social satisfaction, finally, leads to unrest against the industry/industrial unit in question. In fact, many industries/industrial units are facing dissatisfaction of the neighborhood communities due to soil, water and air pollution, loss of livelihoods and health hazards; largely because of the industrial activity. Impact of other social and economic problems associated with industrialization are no less worrying. Needless to say, no industrial activity/unit can survive when its neighborhood becomes dissatisfied. This calls for regular measurement and monitoring of social satisfaction levels of the community and take appropriate corrective measures as and when the social satisfaction levels fall below the optimum. This monograph is meant to introduce the reader with techniques, methods and the process of conducting social satisfaction surveys/studies.
