Soul Weathered: Devotions Forged in the Fire of Real Life

Soul Weathered is a 52-week devotional for men who are tired of shallow faith and ready to live awake, grounded, and fully present with God. Written from decades spent guiding others through rivers, trails, and wide-open country, Mark Folk invites readers to slow down, listen, and let God shape them through experience rather than comfort. These are not devotions built on easy answers or polished spirituality. They are about endurance, honesty, and becoming a man who can carry what God entrusts to him.

Each week offers Scripture, honest reflection, and space to wrestle with God in real time, covering themes of desire, surrender, endurance, joy, wilderness, prayer, and the unseen work of God in ordinary days. Rather than pushing readers toward performance or striving, Soul Weathered challenges a common assumption in men's Christian living, that faith is something you achieve by trying harder. Instead, it offers a different vision, one of becoming present, available, and responsive to God's voice, whether that voice comes on a mountain trail or in the middle of an ordinary Tuesday.

This devotional will help you build spiritual strength through reflection and lived faith, recognize God's voice in silence, struggle, and everyday life, develop resilience shaped by pressure and truth, break free from distraction and passive belief, and live with clarity, purpose, and staying power.

Mark writes with honesty and restraint rather than formulas or quick fixes, inviting readers into a slower journey, one that values listening, obedience, and inner formation over image, success, or striving. He believes God meets people not only in moments of clarity but in fatigue, longing, and uncertainty, and that real formation happens slowly, through attention, obedience, and grace.

Ideal for men's Bible studies, small groups, Father's Day gifts, outdoor and adventure companions, or anyone building a daily quiet time practice, Soul Weathered is a rugged, honest devotional for men at every stage of life, from new believers to seasoned elders, who are ready to trade performance for presence and stop waiting for God to nudge them.

If you are a man who is done striving and ready to start listening, Soul Weathered was written for you. Slow down. Reflect. Write down what you hear. That is His song over you.

What Others Say About this Book:

Soul Weathered, by Mark Folk, was hewn from years of experience hiking the winding trails of life. Unlike standard run-of-the-mill devotionals whose focus is to get it done, Soul Weathered's focus is to get it down-down to the deeper recesses of our souls, where true and lasting change happens. I highly recommend it.
