nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Relaying is seen as an advanced technique to improvethe throughput, to exploit the spatial diversity, andmost importantly to increase the coverage area inwireless networks. This work proposes severalsignaling protocols in relay networks and analyzesthe performance limits of these protocols. It isshown that compared to a non-cooperative mode oftransmission, throughput and/or reliability areimmensely enhanced. The reader of this work will getfamiliar with the principles of relay networks. Asummary of the techniques used in relay networks isfirst provided. The relaying schemes ofdecode-and-forward and compress-and-forward arestudied within a novel generalized relay channelmodel. Then, the idea of relay selection ishighlighted and two novel relay selection schemes arepresented. Finally, relaying in interference networksis considered, where multiple source-destinationpairs attempt to communicate together and they areassisted by a dedicated relay station. The protocolspresented in this work have applications in militarycommunications, ad-hoc and sensor networks, andbroadband wireless systems.…
