Neuware - 'Stage Lighting' provides an in-depth exploration of the technical and artistic principles governing the use of light in theatrical productions. Written by C. Harold Ridge, this influential work examines the transition of stage illumination from a simple functional necessity to a complex narrative tool. The text covers a wide range of essential topics, including the mechanics of electrical systems, the application of color, and the strategic positioning of lighting equipment to enhance the dramatic impact of a performance. The work serves as a vital record of early 20th-century theater technology, detailing the innovations and methodologies that defined the era. Ridge balances the practicalities of electrical engineering with the creative demands of scenography, offering guidance on how to manipulate shadows, intensity, and hue to evoke specific moods. 'Stage Lighting' is an indispensable resource for those interested in the history of stagecraft and the evolution of technical theater. It highlights the collaborative nature of production and the burgeoning importance of the lighting designer as a key creative force in the performing arts. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
