"Stream Gaging" is a comprehensive technical treatise on the methods and principles of measuring water flow in natural channels. Written by William Andrew Liddell, this work serves as an essential resource for civil engineers, hydrologists, and researchers focused on water resource management.

The text covers the fundamental theories of fluid mechanics as applied to open-channel flow, detailing the equipment and techniques necessary to establish and maintain accurate gaging stations. Liddell provides a rigorous examination of various measurement methods-including the use of current meters, floats, and weirs-while offering deep insights into the analysis of data accuracy and the construction of discharge curves. By bridging the gap between theoretical hydraulics and practical field applications, the work addresses the complexities of river and stream behavior under varying conditions.

Valuable both for its historical significance and its enduring technical insights, "Stream Gaging" remains an important reference for understanding the evolution of hydrometric practices and the systematic study of liquid flow in the natural environment.
