Two Realistic 40-Problem Structural Depth Exams
Structural Depth Practice Exams contains two 40-problem, multiple-choice exams consistent with the NCEES Civil PE structural depth exam’s format and specifications. Like the actual exam, the problems in this book require an average of six minutes to solve. Comprehensive step-by-step solutions demonstrate accurate and efficient problem-solving approaches. Author commentary is provided in the solutions to explain time-saving shortcuts and common pitfalls.
Structural Depth Practice Exams will help you to
- familiarize yourself with the exam scope and format
- identify accurate and efficient problem-solving approaches
- connect relevant theory to exam-like problems
- solve problems under timed conditions

James Giancaspro, PhD, PE, is an associate professor of civil engineering at the University of Miami. He received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering and master of science and doctoral degrees in structural engineering from Rutgers University. He has collaborated with scientists at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to investigate high-temperature-resistant materials used in aerospace applications. He also spent several years in the Structural Damage Technology division of Boeing, where he developed test methods for composite materials and experimental programs to evaluate their durability and damage tolerance. In 2013, he received the James M. Robbins Excellence in Teaching Award from Chi Epsilon for the southeastern United States.
