Self Surrender: An Invitation to Self Application is the powerful testimony of Yoshiko Watanabe Benefield a journey from Japan to Jesus Christ, from transition to transformation, and from the hidden cage of the familiar into the freedom of the divine purpose. Raised in Japan and shaped by Japanese culture and Buddhist tradition, Yoshiko came to America as a young international student. What began as an educational journey became a life-changing spiritual encounter. Through the witness of a man that became her husband, she was introduced to Jesus Christ for the first time, and her life began toward a surrender she could have never imagined.
In these pages, Yoshiko shares her journey of faith, covenant, restoration, family, marriage, calling and ministry. Her story reveals that surrender is not the lost of identity, it is the doorway to discovering who God created you to become.
Through the imagery of the caged dove being released, the biblical commitment of Ruth, and the Japanese art of Kintsugi, readers are reminded that brokenness does not disqualify a vessel. In the hands of God, the broken places can become the very places where grace shines the most.
Each chapter invites the reader beyond inspiration into personal application through keys to surrender.
