This 7x10 92-page paperback identifies six teaching methods seldom used by swimming instructors. They are proven keys to teaching yourself and others to swim to get faster longer-lasting results using patterns and sequences. Visual, verbal, and kinesthetic cues to feel the water pressure on the hands and forearms and hold on to the water to pull and push the body over the water are demonstrated with brief descriptions and picture sequences by professional, Dr. Pete Andersen.

Dr. Pete Andersen is a leading authority and expert in drowning prevention and swimming instruction. All his content is based on never out-of-date physics and psychology of learning principles, and statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA. His “Teach Yourself To Swim” book, book series, and videos is being called the new science of swimming instruction. Dr. Pete introduces and demonstrates six new teaching methods and correct visual, verbal, and kinesthetic cues (feeling the water pressure) that are proven to get faster longer-lasting results. His unique system of easy-to-master one-minute steps any healthy person can learn to swim in only a few hours when they follow and master the sequence. He is the only instructor in the world with a Ph.D. in psychology of learning physical skills principles applied to swimming. His mission is to save more lives by making his books and DVDs affordable, easy to read, and start learning to swim at home without a pool. The content helps families who live in rural and low income urban and suburban areas with several children where there is no pool or experienced instructors. He has taught 1000’s to swim and 100’s to be quality instructors. He regularly teaches an adult non-swimmer to swim in one hour, and has been known to teach people to swim on the phone by altering their mindset and building their confidence. Dr. Pete was a 5-time All-American at Indiana University and currently holds Masters Swimming World and National Records, and has 21 Senior Olympic Summer Games Gold Medals. In 2008 he retired as a K-12 school superintendent, owns Trius Publishing and Sports Advisor Features new syndicate, and is a behaviorist, author, coach, speaker, and publisher. How-to picture sequences and brief descriptions make this a book/DVD series a must have for a home library reference resource to learn and protect their family from unintentional drowning.
